Donate to the PITCH In Campaign to support NHIA’s Grassroots Efforts.

Welcome to the NHIA Advocacy Olympics and Podium Challenge! This summer, NHIA is partnering with you — our member organizations — to (virtually) swarm Capitol Hill and spread the word on the value of home infusion to our federal representatives in Congress. By following the checklist below, you can help support NHIA’s efforts to pass the Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act and ensure sustainable reimbursement for home infusion services under the Medicare Part B Home Infusion Therapy benefit (i.e. DMEPOS). Organizations will compete for spots on the medal podium and can earn a gold, silver, and bronze medals based on various levels of participation. Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Enroll in the Program

  • Email to express your interest in participating. Please include your company name, name of local point of contact, and your company address. Note: We want participation at the location level, not just the corporate entity.
  • Upon receiving your email, NHIA staff will respond with the names and contact information your Members of Congress and their key health care staff member.

Step 2: Request a Meeting
  • Using the template email provided in your packet, send your meeting requests to the health care staffer for your Members of Congress.
  • If you do not receive a response within the course of a week, send a brief follow-up email to the staff member.
  • If you do not receive a response to your follow-up email, please notify NHIA’s Director of Legislative Affairs, Shea McCarthy ( for additional assistance.

Step 3: Prepare for Your Meeting
  • Review the materials provided in your packet, including the Talking Points and Meeting Guide documents.

Step 4: Attend Your Meeting
  • Spend 15-30 minutes meeting over video chat or phone call with the key staff representative for your Member of Congress.
  • Request that they cosponsor the Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act.
  • Invite the Member of Congress to conduct a site visit when they are in the state/district.
Step 5: Follow Up
  • The same day of the meeting, send a follow-up thank you email to the staffer to express appreciation for their time and reiterate any commitments made during the meeting.
  • Send a second follow-up email one to two weeks after the meeting to check if the staff member has followed up internally and whether the Member plans to cosponsor the bill or schedule a site visit.
