Chris Maksym, PharmD, RPh
Christopher J. Maksym, PharmD, RPh, is Director of Pharmacy and Home Care Operations, HomeMed, MedEquip, and Wheelchair Seating Services, for the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Center—Home Care Services in Ann Arbor, MI. He is also Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy at the University's College of Pharmacy.
Maksym has dedicated his career to strengthening patient care and advancing the future of pharmacy and the home infusion industry. Maksym began his profession in 1985, joining the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers as Clinical Pharmacist on the parenteral and enteral nutrition team. Maksym was on the start-up team that established HomeMed, an alternate site home infusion and specialty pharmacy at the University of Michigan and served as HomeMed's Chief Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager. He later took on the role of Director of Operations and Chief Pharmacist before assuming his current position in 2005. In addition to his leadership role within the University's infusion pharmacy and home care operations, Maksym serves as an experiential training and research investigations preceptor for Doctor of Pharmacy students.
Maksym has been highly active within the National Home Infusion Association. Maksym is Past Chairman of the NHIA Board and before that was Board Vice-Chair and Board Secretary. Maksym has held numerous leadership positions within the Association including as Secretary of the Managed Care Committee and Co-Chairman of the Home Infusion EDI Coding Sub-committee (HIEC). In 2012, Maksym was named the recipient of NHIA's Gene Graves Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership role in advancing patient care and supporting the growth of the home infusion industry. In addition to NHIA, Maksym has provided his leadership to various academic and professional organizations including on the Boards of the Michigan Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Michigan Consultant Pharmacy Society, and the Michigan Pharmacists Association. During the course of his career he has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the field.
Maksym received a Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and completed a Clinical Pharmacy Residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Center.
