NHIA Strengthens Its Legislative Team

NHIA announces that John R. Magnuson has joined the association’s staff as Vice President of Legislative Affairs.  In this role, Magnuson will work collaboratively with the NHIA Board and member organizations, senior staff, partner organizations, and outside legal counsel, to effectively develop legislative strategies and initiatives that deliver targeted messages to Congress and the Administration.  He will also staff the new Government Affairs Committee and work with NHIA members to effectively build a world-class, member-driven grassroots organization.

“John brings to NHIA years of Hill experience and many fresh ideas on how we can drive our push for legislation for the needed Medicare reimbursement fix,” said NHIA Executive Director Russell Bodoff.

Magnuson comes to NHIA as the past campaign manager for U.S. Representative Jim Ramstad, and has more than 18 years experience in the areas of government affairs, fundraising, and business development. In 1995, John founded The Magnuson Group, applying his fundraising, event management and strategic planning skills for the next 10 years by assisting members of Congress with fundraising and providing consulting services to Fortune 500 Company Executives.  He has worked in both the private and public sectors, successfully navigating projects through the use of strong leadership and innovative solutions. Magnuson is originally from Minnesota, and received his formal education from the University of Minnesota where he studied political science and speech communication.
