Triad Pharmacy Manager II

Job Description

Under minimal direction, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for implementing the philosophies, policies and procedures and strategies to achieve the results defined by regulatory, licensing and accrediting bodies related to compounding practices and processes. This role reports to the Regional Leader/Director of Pharmacy Operations and is responsible to achieve the results defined by the director and other operational activities or duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for supervising the operation of the compounding center in accordance with AHC policies and procedures to assure USP 797 compliance.
  2. Responsible for monitoring an “Error Free” environment to include observation of staff and process including right lot#, right drug, right container, appropriate checks to assure a quality compounded product.
  3. Assures the compounding center staff follow AHC standards for compounding products, aseptic technique, clean room maintenance, and end product checking.
  4. Assures a quality compounded product reaches the patient by observing and monitoring the packing standards and appropriate use of courier or shipping delivery methods.
  5. Manages medication waste within the compounding center to assure complete documentation and communication with disposal vendor and coordinates credits and returns with pharmacy purchasing agent.
  6. Manages compounding center waste via Stericycle process and destruction validation.
  7. Responsible for maintaining a perpetual narcotic inventory, including monthly counts and maintenance of 222 log and records.
  8. Maintains validation to mix pharmaceuticals through completing company approved aseptic technique training and media-fill tests.
  9. Follows policy and procedures for aseptic preparation and adherence to USP 797 standards.
  10. Supervises the process and technical personnel who assist in preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of drugs and supplies.
  11. Checks pharmaceutical preparations to assure accuracy of preparation and labeling.
  12. Utilizes computer/technology applications as per company standards.
  13. Participates in scheduled on-call activities.
  14. Ensures proper documentation and record keeping is done for all medications.
  15. Complies with federal, state, local laws, and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
  16. Ensures consistent administration of, and staff compliance with, all Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  17. Maintains communication and collaboration with regional pharmacy managers and ensures patient and referral source preferences and concerns are prioritized and resolved.
  18. Mentors pharmacists in training and pharmacy school students.

Management /Supervision:

  1. Responsible for selection and hiring of qualified staff, ensuring an effective on-boarding and providing comprehensive training and regular feedback
  2. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  3. Establishes annual goals and objectives for the department based on the organization’s strategic goals
  4. Responsible for achieving organizational performance and retention goals, including timely completion of performance evaluations

Minimum Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
