Education Overview:
The NHIA Executive Pre-Conference is specifically designed for senior executives, owners, managers and other leaders in the field who are seeking bold, new ideas and strategies for sustaining a well-prepared and flourishing alternate-site infusion business—all amid changing and economically challenging times. Moderator and faculty member David Franklin, CEO of Vital Care, brings together a program of veteran, highly skilled industry leaders to explore and define our field’s new frontiers.
Following an introduction by Russ Bodoff, President of NHIA, and Lynn Giglione, NHIA Board Chair, Michael J. Sicilian, President of MHA, will open with an overview of the changes facing the home infusion industry in 2010 and beyond. From the ever-evolving reality of health care reform and a specialty-drug focused pipeline, to the shifting trends in home infusion reimbursement from a medical model to a pharmacy model — Mike will address the strategic decisions that home infusion executives will need to make in 2010 to maintain a relevant and thriving business over the next 1 to 5 years.
Move beyond the lecture in each segment of this program, as hands-on examples and case studies are reviewed—demonstrating productive application of the concepts being shared:
Innovation as a Tool for Maintaining Business Relevance—Darwin taught us everything we need to know about innovation—adapt to changing circumstances, or become extinct! With this profound notion in mind, you will examine the key issues that are shaping the alternate-site infusion market today, including the economy, health care reform, reimbursement, new drugs and clinical protocols, personalized medicine, specialty infusion in the expanding treatment of chronic conditions, mergers and acquisitions, and more. Learn how your response to these factors could impact your future (either positively or negatively) and discuss how the most successful companies innovate to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Discover how to create a culture of innovation at your organization—identifying imaginative programs and services, and then evaluating their potential to grow your bottom line and enhance your competitive edge in the coming year!
Data as a Catalyst for Business Growth and Development—Meaningful data has the power to shape your future—to validate what you do well, what needs improvement and where your opportunities lie for business growth, innovation and development. Grasp how to construct a business analysis model that incorporates public and company-specific data in a thorough review of operations and market opportunities. Devise proactive approaches for the ongoing use of such data to fine-tune your organizational focus in a variety of areas—financial, operational and clinical, just to name a few. Reflect upon how best to synthesize key data and benchmarking into both your strategic planning processes and your everyday operations, fostering a data-driven culture of continuous quality improvement and creativity.
Guerilla Leadership: What You Really Need to Know to Compete in Health Care Today—Successful leaders possess a firm understanding of the many “tools” they have available, including when and under what circumstances to apply them. As the saying goes: If all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail (and even nails can appear dissimilar under different lighting). Effective leadership, especially when in the trenches of our rapidly evolving industry, involves finding the appropriate balance between the current realities in which you operate and which tool might be most beneficial in leading your team to the strategic objective. This presentation will unite seven categories of leadership tools into one interconnected model that offers alternate-site infusion leaders practical strategies they can use to make tangible improvements in their organizations. To advance your business overall, you need every member of your team to accomplish their mission—be sure to join us for this insightful discussion on how to lead them there!
