Call To Action!
The House and Senate are moving quickly on their health care reform packages—and while a great deal of controversy surrounds these efforts, without question such legislative actions will impact every single home infusion provider for years to come. NHIA has made tremendous progress in educating members of the House and the Senate on the importance of H.R. 574 and S. 254, with key support continuing to grow.
However, despite our grassroots success thus far, the increasing pressure to reduce the costs of health care legislation is, unfortunately, multiplying the obstacles placed in front of us—we find ourselves ever so close, and yet still so far away. Now is the time for every NHIA Member to participate in our grassroots efforts and respond to these challenges with an amplified, unwavering call to action:
- To ensure our ultimate success, there are both urgent steps that must be taken now—and then additional required actions down the road, through the next few months.
- NHIA urges you to take part in a special, free all-member Talk Infusion Grassroots Teleconference that will serve as a critical element of the “NHIA Virtual Fly-In” day on July 8, 2009.
- We need one hour of your time on the phone to fully review what is happening on Capital Hill, how the quickly shifting ground of health care reform will impact home infusion, and the current prospects for our legislation.
- NHIA will then require an additional 15-30 minutes of your time for a grassroots telephone call, fax and/or e-mail.
What is a Virtual Fly-In?
Many associations “Fly-In” members during critical moments of an advocacy campaign to help deliver key messages and show a dedicated, organized political support—but since time and resources limit this option, we are planning the “NHIA Virtual Fly-In.” During a focused day of grassroots activity on July 8th, NHIA Board and staff will advocate in-person on the Hill, while the NHIA general membership will simultaneously send e-mails/faxes and make follow-up phone calls to Congressional offices. Through this strategic two-pronged approach, the Home Infusion Field will effectively communicate our targeted messages—and, together, make our voice heard.

What do I need to do?
- Register NOW (at not cost) to join us for the Talk Infusion Grassroots Teleconference—and invite others throughout your organization to participate with you!
- Immediately after the call, fax and/or e-mail your Congressional Representatives (especially your Senators).
- Follow-up with a phone call and have a “virtual meeting” with your Congressional Representatives/Staff.
